Privacy Policy

Last updated 1 August 2026. This policy explains what this website collects, why, how long it is kept and what you can ask us to do about it. It describes what the site actually does β€” not a general template.

Who we are

NRI Legal Consultants, advocates enrolled with the Bar Council of Punjab & Haryana, 2nd floor, Godrej Eternia, Plot No. 70, Tower A, Industrial Area Phase I, Chandigarh 160002, India.

For anything in this policy, write to info@nrilegalconsultants.in or call +91-95010 10009.

What we collect when you send an enquiry

If you complete the enquiry form, we record exactly these fields:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your phone or WhatsApp number
  • The country you are writing from
  • The type of legal matter you select
  • Whatever you write in the message box
  • How you heard about us, if you choose to tell us
  • The date and time, and the internet address (IP) the enquiry was sent from

Please note: the message box is free text and people often describe criminal, matrimonial or property matters in it. Only tell us what you are comfortable sending by email at this stage. Contacting us through this form does not create a lawyer–client relationship, and correspondence is not privileged until an engagement letter is signed. If your matter is sensitive, call us instead.

What we do with it

We use it to answer you and to advise on the matter you have raised. Nothing else. We do not sell it, we do not share it for marketing, and we do not send newsletters or bulk email.

Under UK and EU data protection law our lawful basis is legitimate interests β€” you asked us a question and we are answering it β€” and, once you instruct us, performance of a contract and our professional obligations as advocates.

Visitor statistics

We count visits so we know which pages are useful. We do this two ways.

Our own counter records the page visited, the country (worked out from the network address, which is never stored), whether you arrived from a search engine, an AI assistant, another website or typed the address directly, and whether you are on a phone or computer. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and does not keep your IP address. The identifier it uses to count you once per day is scrambled with a key that changes daily, so you cannot be followed from one day to the next.

Google Analytics also runs on this site and does set cookies. Google acts as a separate data controller for that. You can opt out for every website using Google’s browser add-on.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own. Google Analytics sets its own; the map on our contact page loads only when you click it, so Google sets nothing there unless you choose to view the map. Embedded videos are served through YouTube’s no-cookie domain.

Who else sees your information

WhoWhat they handleWhere
HostingerHosts the website and stores enquiriesIndia / EU
Google (Workspace)Carries our email, so your enquiry passes through itGlobal
Google (Analytics, Maps, YouTube)Visit statistics; map and video only if you interactGlobal

We use no CRM, no marketing platform and no payment processor on this website. Your enquiry is not uploaded to any advertising system.

Transfers outside your country

We are in India and our servers are in India and the EU. If you write to us from the UK, the EU, Canada, Australia or the United States, your information is transferred to India. Where the law requires it, that transfer relies on the standard contractual clauses our suppliers operate under.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become instructions are kept while there is a realistic prospect of the matter proceeding, and are then deleted on request at any time. Where we are instructed, the file is retained for the period our professional obligations as advocates require.

We are finalising a single stated retention period with our advocates and will publish it here rather than state a figure we have not yet committed to.

Your rights

Wherever you are, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what we hold about you;
  • correct anything wrong;
  • delete it, where we are not required to keep it;
  • stop using it for a particular purpose;
  • send you a copy in a portable format.

Email info@nrilegalconsultants.in and we will respond within one month. There is no charge.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you may complain to your national regulator β€” in the UK the Information Commissioner’s Office, in Canada the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, in Australia the OAIC, and in India the Data Protection Board.

How your information is protected

The website is served over an encrypted connection. Enquiries are stored in an area that is not reachable from the public internet, and access to the administration system requires a password plus a one-time code sent by email. Every administrator sign-in is logged.

We would rather be accurate than reassuring: enquiries are stored as ordinary text on the server rather than individually encrypted, and we back them up daily to private storage. If we ever became aware of a breach affecting your information, we would tell you and the relevant regulator within 72 hours.

Children

This website is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If we change it we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be described here rather than made quietly.
